Our True Prince....

Recently, I have started reading "Authentic Beauty" by Leslie Ludy. In a world and culture that denies that value of pure romance, Leslie is calling young women to fall love with our "true Prince"- Jesus Christ! The following is an excerpt from chapter 2 in titled "Reviving the Feminine Heart." This struck me so deeply because I see how true it is in my own life.

"Many of us think we know Jesus Christ. We mention Him often in conversation, visit Him at church once or twice a week, read our Bibles periodically so we can understand Him better, and maybe even declare that He is our number-one priority in life. But just as there is a marked distinction between memorizing the definition of rose in Webster's dictionary and actually holding one in your hand, there is a huge difference between saying you know Jesus Christ and actually experiencing Him as your true Prince, your Hero, and the One you give up everything just to be with. So many of us, though we claim to know Jesus Christ, are still longing for our deepest desires to be fulfilled by someone else. We frantically seek the man of our dreams, giving ourselves completely to one relationship after the next, hoping that when we finally find the right guy our romantic fantasies will become reality.

Jesus Christ is your true Prince.... The One who gave His very life just to be with you, the One who can rescue you from the dungeon you are in, the One who can transform you into a radiant princess, the One who can carry you away to His beautiful land to cherish you forever. He is the only One worthy of your entire heart, life, soul, and body- all you are and all you have. Jesus Christ is the Prince you should passionately pursue with all your heart.... He is the Lover of our souls. Our true Prince. The One we have been longing for, searching for, and dreaming of since childhood. The One who will love us the way no one else can love us; the One who will cherish us forever; the One who will transform us from hopeless girls in rags into beautiful, confident, radiant princesses. He is the One who makes us ready for true, lasting human love. And He is the One who meets our deepest needs when human love falls short."

Being a teen age girl in a 'boy-crazed' world, when 12 year old girls already have 'ex-boyfriends' it's hard to believe that true love and romance is really out there. For me really my dream is to be a godly wife and mother. Though it is a very good ambition and desire it is so easy to make that my only desire and focus in my life right now. God wants me to be in love with HIM ALONE- and he'll take care of the rest! Why we look for perfect love in imperfect, sinful people when Jesus is the ONLY perfect lover? He is the only one who can fulfill all our needs and desires to be loved. My prayer is that I will fall in love with my true Prince and I hope you will too.
