True Worship and Africa

Today, I went to Calvary Chapel in Jinja. The majority of the congregation is African but there are several Americans that attend there. The worship was incredible. We sang songs that I sing back home but something it me differently today. I have found myself singing the same worship songs over and over again and I miss the true meaning of worship. At times I feel that I have half-heartedly worshipped God because I am focusing on me-my circumstances, my surroundings, my problems etc. But to hear the beautiful Ugandan voices worshiping Jesus- not based on how they are feeling, what their circumstances are, what they have or don't have (which isn't alot in American standards) but true worship of Jesus for who He is. It was so humbling. We sang a song today, which I hadn't heard before but I thought it was so timely for what I am doing this summer.

"Oh You Bring" - Hillsong United

Oh you bring hope to the hopeless
And light to those in the darkness
And death to life, now I'm alive

Oh you give peace to the restless
And joy to homes that are broken
I see you now, in you I'm found

And you open the door for me
And you lay down your life to set me free
All that I am will serve you Lord

Oh you fill those who are empty
And rescue those in the valley
And through it all you calm my soul

Oh now you find me in my weakness
And heal the wounds of my heartache
And I worship you in spirit and truth

And you open the door for me
And you lay down your life to set me free
All that I am will serve you Lord

And you open my eyes to see
All the wonder and awe of Christ in me
Jesus you're everything I need

All honor
All glory
All praise to you

And you open the door for me
And you lay down your life to set me free
All that I am will serve you Lord

And you open my eyes to see
All the wonder and awe of Christ in me
Jesus you're everything I need

Perhaps US church services won't be the same after experiencing worship in Africa?? Missing you today, but thankful you're right where God wants you to be. Love you.
